Mercy Riders

Pushing pedals, pushing hope

Day 40 – July 24 – in Washington, DC

We spent the day in Georgetown and Washington, DC. We had breakfast at a local coffee shop, and later had lunch across from the Capitol building. After lunch we went to the south-east lawn and attended a rally where Bill spoke about the impact the sequestration is having on the programs designed to help the homeless.

After the rally we went to the capitol building for a guided tour. It was awesome from an architectural standpoint. I hope someday soon the people in it can cooperate and enact policy that is equally awesome.  After the tour we took a taxi back to the Mercy Housing offices, where we talked about the ride with the staff there.

This evening we’re getting ready for the last day of riding. We recently found out that a church in Rehoboth Beach will host us, and if we get in at a reasonable time, they’ll feed us as well!
